Rum River Chapter Scholarships

One of the benefits of chapter participation is an opportunity to receive scholarship monies. This benefit is part of the Rum River Chapter awards program to acknowledge members for their active chapter involvement and commitment to acute and critical care nursing.

Scholarship monies help our members aquire new knowledge and skills; learn from nationally recognized experts in critical care, progressive care, and telemetry; provide evidence-based care, and achieve their professional goals.

Scholarship monies may be use to support scholarly nursing activities. Examples include: workshops, conference fees, professional books and journals, and certification exam fee/re-certification exam fee.

Scholarship Guidelines

  1. Only members with active national AACN and local membership are eligible to apply.
  2. Once merit points (Member-at-Large Scholarship); length of service (Board Member Scholarship); and proof of activity (President-elect and Representing Chapter at NTI Scholarships) have been accumulated/attained, current members may request reimbursement.
  3. To apply for scholarship monies applicants must submit the appropriate form (see table below for more information and links to obtain forms)
  4. Scholarships cannot be used for expenses reimbursed by other sources
  5. Scholarship funds will not be awarded until proof of course or workship completion and applicable receipts is submitted

Scholarship Categories
Member-at-Large Scholarships
This scholarship is for Rum River Chapter members**. Chapter members earn merit points by participating in a variety of chapter activities and may receive up to $100.00 per year (July 1 - June 30) to be used for scholarly activities. The scholarship is based on a merit point system (1 merit point = $1.00).  Members submitting for scholarship must turn in "Rum River Chapter Scholarship Activities Tracking Form" and " Rum River Chapter Scholarship Application Form" to chapter president.

**Chapter Board Members are not eligible for this scholarship
 
Board Member Scholarships
This scholarship is for Rum River Chapter Board Members. Board members are eligible for $350.00 per two-year board term. Scholarship requirements include: serve a minimum of 1 year of the 2 year term and attend at least 75% of Board meetings and Chapter meetings.
 
President-elect NTI Scholarship
This scholarship is for the Rum River Chapter President-elect to attend the Leadership Development Workship at NTI. Scholarship funding provides up to $500.00 for airfare and up to $200.00/night for two nights lodging.
 
Chapter Presentation at NTI Scholarships
This scholarship is for Rum River Chapter members who are representing the activities of the Rum River Chapter at NTI.  Examples include: Poster or Oral abstract presentations about the chapter or chapter activities; chapter award, and NTI speaker. Members may be reimbursed up to $500.00. The scholarship monies are designated for one presentation and all associated authors will determine how the monies will be divided. Scholarship monies may be applied towards NTI registration, travel and lodging.
